US-based engineering and construction solutions provider McDermott will aid in the acceleration of Australia’s clean energy revolution after it was awarded a Pre Front-End Engineering Design (Pre-FEED) contract from Woodside Energy for the proposed H2Perth project.
The contract will see McDermott handling the preliminary steps for a proposed export-scale renewable hydrogen and ammonia production facility, before basic engineering level work takes place.
Commenting on the win, Tareq Kawash, Senior Vice President, Onshore of McDermott, said, “This award follows the successful completion of the concept study on H2Perth and decades of experience executing both onshore and offshore projects for Woodside Energy.”
The hydrogen will be produced using clean electrolysis technologies and natural gas reforming with carbon emissions either abated or offset.
