Linde showcases European hydrogen fuelling technology to the US market

0

Linde North America, a member of The Linde Group, will showcase its next-generation hydrogen fuelling technologies at the National Hydrogen Association (NHA) 21ST Annual Conference.
The conference will take place at the Long Beach Convention Centre, Long Beach California between 3 and 5 May 2010.
Mike McGowan, NHA Chairman and Head of Strategic Alliances for Linde’s alternative energy team, commented, “Linde is focused on finding ways to reduce our dependence on fossil fuel and cut our greenhouse gas emissions.”
“Expanding our North American vehicle fuelling capabilities gives customers greater access to our strong hydrogen network and world-class engineering.” Two products to be showcased include the Linde Ionic Compressor system and the MF-90 hydrogen fuelling station.
The former will be introduced to the North American market for hydrogen powered buses and fork lift trucks. It is currently used extensively across Europe in cars and buses. Mike Beckman, Head of the Linde North America’s alternate energy team stated, “It is a high-efficiency, high-throughput, low-maintenance and low-noise compression solution to allow fast and safe filling of vehicles.”
Linde’s Ionic Compressor is part of a complete and compact indoor or outdoor storage dispensing solution for the hydrogen fuel cell bus and fork lift truck markets.
The MF-90 hydrogen fuelling station will also feature among the Linde exhibition. The containerised system which supplies both 350 bar and 700 bar hydrogen to automobiles was originally commercialised in Europe. The NHA Conference provides Linde with an opportunity to release this unit into the American market.
Beckman commented on the significance of hydrogen-powered vehicles, saying, “We’re well beyond hydrogen-powered vehicles being a scientific curiosity. The technologies Linde has developed demonstrate that fuelling these vehicles is a commercial reality.”
He continued, “with increased emphasis on alternative fuels in Washington D.C. and am increasing number of state houses, I think we’ll see commercialisation grow at a much faster pace over the next few years.”
The NHA event was established in 1989 to foster the development of hydrogen technologies and their utilization in industrial, commercial and consumer applications in addition to the energy sector.
Linde North America invites readers to booth 109 for a discussion of the latest developments in hydrogen fuelling technology. The company’s alternative energy team will be on hand to discuss Linde’s existing systems in addition to new commercial ventures.
