Linde Gases, a division of The Linde Group, is taking steps to align with United Nations’ international chemical re-classification system.
The ‘Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) will affect over sixty countries and will impact all pure gases in EU countries from 1 December 2010. The re-classification of gas mixtures will take place from 2015.
Stephen Harrison, Head of Speciality Gases and Equipment at Linde commented, “The agility with which Linde is implementing GHS is testament to our unwavering commitment to customers to partner in their success through safety and compliance.”
He continued, “Customers are invited to engage with EU classification experts from Linde to understand how these changes benefit them.”
To aid the change, Linde have published a Gases and Applications handbook. This provides pictorial representations of the new GHS classification and labelling system. Additional comparisons with existing EU classification systems aims to clarify updated property descriptions and main labelling information.
