Linde Gas & Equipment has announced it is set to acquire Memphis-based nexAir.
In a deal struck this week (11th October) between the firms, the Linde division could by the end of this year own the distributor of atmospheric gases and welding supplies.
One of the largest privately controlled companies in its segment, nexAir was founded in 1940 as Standard Welders Supply and was then purchased in 1950. In 1996, Standard Welders merged with Mid-South Oxygen to form nexAir.
Today, the family run company is now in its third generation, with Kevin McEniry as CEO. As a result of the acquisition, however, McEniry is set to transition his responsibilities to the company’s President, Bill Proctor.
