Industrial gas major Linde will build a green hydrogen production plant in Singapore after signing a deal to supply specialty chemicals company Evonik with the renewably produced gas.
The green hydrogen generated at the nine-megawatt alkaline electrolyser facility will be supplied to Evonik for the manufacture of methionine, an essential component in animal feed.
Expected to come online in 2024, the hydrogen will also be used to supply the local merchant market in response to growing demand.
Commenting on the announcement, Moloy Banerjee, President ASEAN & South Asia at Linde, said, “We welcome the opportunity to help Evonik sustainably grow its operations on Jurong Island through the safe and reliable supply of green hydrogen.”
