According to Linde North America, extruded polystyrene foam manufacturers can now reduce the use of hydrocarbon and HFC blowing agents with the controlled addition of carbon dioxide.
Indeed, Linde North America has just released a new high-pressure CO2 metering system designed to meet the growing demand from a more environmentally conscious consumer.
We are making it easier than ever for foam manufacturers to capitalise on the advantages of CO2 – while avoiding hydrocarbon foaming agents.

The 7250 psi (500 bar) high pressure metering system, dubbed the DSD 500 system, delivers precise amounts of liquid CO2 through a proportional control valve at injection pressures to 6090 psi.
The device, which can be retrofitted, is designed to help foam manufacturers reduce the rising cost of traditional butane, pentane, HFC and HCFC blowing agents.
