France-based green hydrogen specialist Lhyfe has taken the first step in its work on re-oxygenating the oceans through offshore hydrogen production following the publication of a scientific article on the results of the company’s research over the past few months.
Spurred on by its ambition to decarbonise transport and industry by producing renewable hydrogen, Lhyfe has sought to combine this with the pursuit of another goal: re-oxygenating the oceans.
To do this, the team imagined a scenario whereby it would produce zero-carbon hydrogen at sea using seawater and wind energy.
