Government officials from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero paid a visit to Levidian’s Technology Centre in Cambridge last week to gain insights into an innovative hydrogen project in collaboration with United Utilities, the UK’s largest listed water company.
The joint venture between Levidian and United Utilities aims to reduce carbon emissions in wastewater treatment by implementing Levidian’s patented LOOP technology, which harnesses biogas to produce graphene and hydrogen sustainably.
The project addresses two critical challenges faced by the sector: reducing emissions from wastewater treatment processes and alleviating the financial strain associated with these operations.
The visit coincides with a broader national effort to champion hydrogen as a key component in achieving Net Zero emissions goals.
