Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) has announced that it has started initial operation of its carbon monoxide (CO) plant at Sipchem Acetyls complex in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia.
The new Carbon Monoxide plant is the largest plant of its kind in the world whose product is used as feedstock for the production of acetic acid and other future products.
The CO plant has been designed and built by Lurgi AG of Germany, an Air Liquide subsidiary, and its Saudi affiliates.
The start up of the CO plant is the first step in the operation of the Acetyls Complex, which is planned to begin later this year.
