Qatargas crossed a major milestone in early January after loading its 1,000th cargo onto an LNG vessel Al Wajbah, ready to deliver the liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a terminal near Nagoya city for its Japanese buyers.
Qatargas is in a long-term agreement with Chubu Electric for the supply of LNG, while Japan is Qatar’s first LNG customer and put the company on the global LNG map. The landmark 1,000th LNG cargo is expected to reach Japan by the month-end.
Qatargas Operating Co. CEO Faisal M al-Suwaidi said, “Today we celebrate a great milestone in our relationship with our foundation customers in Japan with the loading of this 1000th cargo. It is fitting that this cargo should be loaded and delivered to Chubu Electric who were our first customers in Japan and who helped lay the foundation for the development of the first Qatari LNG project.”
“The milestone achievement demonstrates our commitment to reliable and timely deliveries of LNG to our customers,” he added.
