Joint venture achieves AIP for ECOLOG’s liquid CO2 carrier design

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has awarded approval in principle (AIP) for a low-pressure, low-carbon 40,000 cubic meter liquid carbon dioxide (LCO2) carrier design for ECOLOG Services.

The AIP is the result of cooperation within a joint venture project. The finalised design hopes to maximise energy integration and greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to ECOLOG, the project team also included Hanwha Ocean and Babcock LGE.

Playing its role in the project, ECOLOG contributed to cryogenic gas transportation knowledge. The company has already committed to building and owning a fleet of liquid CO2 carriers.
