A newly proposed facility on the US Gulf Coast could see the production of up to eight million tonnes per annum of ammonia to help boost the clean energies market.
JERA and Uniper today (5th Sep) unveiled plans for the site that will convert produced hydrogen into clean ammonia, before exporting it under long-term sale and purchase agreements.
gasworld understands the clean energy carrier will be supplied to both JERA and Uniper and will be primarily used for the European market.
Whilst eight million tonnes per annum is the ultimate production goal, the duo has said the facility will have an initial production capacity of two million tonnes per annum.
