The Australian arm of global foods giant JBS has started construction of a bioenergy system at its Scone beef processing plant in New South Wales.
The system will enable the company to replace its liquefied natural gas (LNG) consumptions with renewable biogas sourced from captured wastewater emissions.
According to JBS, the system – to be built in partnership with biogas handling company Energy360 – will eliminate the equivalent of around 28,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
