Japanese industrial gas company, Iwatani Corporation, has completed yet another hydrogen (H2) refuelling station as part of its plan to rollout a comprehensive H2 infrastructure in the North Pacific rim country.
The new station, situated in Osaka Morinomiya, is approximately 1,390m2 in order to accommodate both fuel cell vehicle (FCV) and fuel cell bus filling, which is expected to become widely adopted in Japan in the coming years.
The site will utilise an offsite supply of liquefied H2, transported by tanks from its HydroEdge production plant in Sakai-shi in the Osaka Prefecture. It will have a supply capacity of 300Nm3/h, making it capable of fully filling six vehicles each hour, and will have a filling pressure of 70 megapascal (Mpa).
Going forward, Iwatani will continue to establish and develop H2 refuelling stations in joint cooperation with local governments and other regional bodies
As part of Iwatani’s development project, the station incorporates an information dissemination facility which demonstrates the potential uses of H2 in day-to-day life, aimed at accelerating public acceptance of H2 energy throughout the country.
