Jointly sponsored by Gas Technology Institute (GTI) and the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC), CH4 Connections 2015 is a unique forum that will bring together diverse interests to discuss national policy and the quickly evolving regulatory landscape, coupled with the latest advancements in emissions monitoring and reductions, helping to pave the way for future innovations.
Reduction of methane emissions has become a high-profile national issue, with many environmental groups and the Obama administration calling for action. Most recently, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing regulations aimed at cutting methane emissions from the oil and gas sector by 40 to 45 percent from 2012 levels over the next decade.
A number of energy corporations, environmental organizations and federal agencies are already working to address these emissions. As the role of natural gas grows in importance as a critical segment of the nation’s energy portfolio, the energy industry is grappling with regulatory and economic challenges related to methane emissions.
CH4 Connections 2015 will be held October 6-7 at the Woodlands, near Houston, TX, and will feature lively panel discussions on how policymakers, environmentalists, industry, and researchers collaborate to reduce methane emissions. The two-day event includes a technology showcase and a poster display of topical work by researchers, academics, and students.
