The gases industry is built upon a paradigm of safety, of the Zero Ambition, and layer upon layer of invaluable regulation.
Safety in handling, using and distributing gas is paramount to the industry, its end-user industries, and all individuals involved. It’s a never-ending quest, but one that is also continually complicated or challenged by the dawn of new applications and new means of delivering those gases and other specialist products.
EIGA (European Industrial Gases Association) has published various documents specific to transport safety, giving guidance on best practices concerning topics such as driver and contractor management, human factors, driver training and vehicle technology. Transport is still seen as one of, if not the highest risk activity in the gases industry, and EIGA aims to contribute to improving the transport safety management systems of all its members. In addition, EIGA holds yearly Winter Seminars and Trainings (http://ws2020.eiga.eu) to exchange lessons learned, good practices and improve safety.
