For the tenth year, US industrial cutting products and software specialist Hypertherm Associates is offering 12 North American schools an air plasma system and in-person training.
The effort is part of Hypertherm’s Spark Something Great grant programme, which supports the next generation of welders and metal fabricators by making plasma cutting equipment and standardised instruction available in schools.
At the time of writing, Hypertherm has awarded systems to 88 schools.
Stephen Bruner, who manages Hypertherm Associates’ educational programme, says that the current skills gap and labour shortage have placed increased demand on North American vocational schools.
