Howden achieved a 23% reduction in its scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions in 2022 to 27,187 tonnes in absolute terms.
Delivering an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) update, Howden said is committed to reducing emissions by 50% by 2030, and aims to be carbon net zero by 2035. Total energy consumption last year was 396,759GJ.
Last year Howden said it “surpassed” its environmental targets including reductions in both waste to landfill and water consumption. Although the company is not a heavy mains water user, Howden also achieved a 7% reduction in water usage across the global business in 2022 compared with its 4% target.
By 2030 it aims to send zero waste to landfill at 50% of its operations and by 2030 reduce mains water usage by 30%.
