In order to provide better healthcare services in the state, Himachal Pradesh is understood to be considering the installation of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen generators at all of its hospitals.
Kaul Singh Thakur, state Health Minister, explained that the Indian government is seriously looking for establishing PSA technology in the state’s health institutions of the state.
However, the minister said that the installations will be done on an experimental basis on a few hospitals and if considered successful, will be implemented across the state.
Currently the supply of oxygen for Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGMC) Shimla was serviced through transportation from oxygen plants established at Mandi and Padhar in Mandi district, resulting in both high cost and consumption of time, Singh stressed. Transportation sometimes get affected due to bad weather and other issues, it was explained.
