Hexagon Digital Wave has signed a long-term agreement with North American compressed gas transportation and distribution company Certarus to requalify its fleet of gas transportation trailers.
Announced today (20th January), the deal will run from January 2025 to December 2027.
Hexagon Digital Wave will use its modal acoustic emission (MAE) technology to perform in-situ requalification of Certarus’ gas transportation modules. The company launched MAE for Type 3 gas distribution trailers in December 2024.
The process is a non-destructive technique that can detect and assess damage in composite materials. Hexagon Digital Wave believes MAE to be the most accurate method for inspecting and testing composite cylinders.
MAE requalification will streamline Certarus’ fleet maintenance and inspection procedures, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and reducing downtime.
Natasha Cherednichenko, President at Certarus, said she is pleased with the benefits that come with utilising Hexagon Digital Wave’s MAE technology for its mobile storage unit cylinder recertification process.
“It’s expertise and technology are helping our industry improve safety and compliance, and reduces downtime associated with other testing processes.”
Hexagon Digital Wave is a subsidiary of Hexagon Composites.
