Helium exploration and development company Helix Exploration has reported helium concentrations of 1.1% at its Darwin #1 well at the Rudyard project in Montana.
The Rudyard Project is a large-scale domal anticline with proven helium gas up to 1.3% flowed to the surface from two adjacent wells.
Helix tested target reservoirs at Darwin #1 in the Souris and Red River intervals. All reservoirs were tested simultaneously in a single perforation over 236ft from 5,000ft to 5,100ft and 5,140ft to 5,276ft.
Testing delivered what the company described as highly encouraging results, flowing 2,750 Mcf/d of raw gas on a 40/64″ choke. Sample gas was formed of 1.1% helium and 95% nitrogen with very low levels of methane and no significant CO2 or water.
