Helium One has commenced drilling at the Itumbula West-1 well in Tanzania.
The helium exploration company today (8th January) confirmed that, following the successful installation of a new iron rough neck and completion of hydraulic repairs, the Itumbula West-1 well was spudded on 6th January.
Following the drilling of the Tai-3 well, the two primary objectives of the Itumbula West-1 well are to target and evaluate the fault system as well as the conventional Karoo play, both of which are expected to produce helium.
Helium One also hopes to perform an open-hole well test in both the fault zones and Karoo targets on Itumbula West-1.
