Canadian exploration business Helium Evolution has reported helium concentrations of 0.75% from its 10-1-4-9W3 helium discovery well along the Mankota helium fairway in Canada.
After the end of a four-day extended flow testing period, the well was producing around 9.5 million standard cubic feet per day at 10,800 kilopascal flowing tubing pressure.
The preliminary test also confirmed a helium content of 0.75%. Helium Evolution says this is higher than the commercially viable threshold of 0.3%.
After an extended production flow period, the 10-1 well will be shut in for 14 days to collect reservoir pressure data, which will be analysed to further evaluate the resource’s potential.
Helium Evolution holds a 20% working interest in the 10-1 well, in partnership with the operator, North American Helium, which currently accounts for around 7% of all helium production in North America.
The company has said they will now work to plan the next phase of development, which includes the drilling of a joint well at 10-36-3-9W3. Helium Evolution hopes this to be spud early in the new year.
North American Helium is also evaluating the installation of processing facilities in the region. The installation of a processing facility will be contingent upon a positive evaluation of results in Q1 2025.
The news follows North American Helium announcing in November that it had completed its drilling operations of a joint well near Mankota, Saskatchewan.

Helium Evolution confirmed North American Helium’s progress and said it will proceed with casing the joint well at 10-1-4-9W3M.
The 10-1 Well is part of the previously announced development plan for up to nine wells in the Mankota area. The partners hope to spud the wells between Q3 2024 and Q2 2025.
