Heidelberg Materials North America has selected both the technology and a contractor for what it says will be the world’s first Net Zero cement plant, located in Edmonton, Canada.
Technip Energies was selected to partner with Heidelberg in the landmark project, having been awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the carbon capture technology for the site.
The solution set to be supplied features the Shell CANSOLV® system and utilises advanced regenerable amine technology.
Joerg Nixdorf, Vice-President of Cement Operations for the Northwest Region at Heidelberg Materials North America, described the news as an exciting step in its journey to produce the world’s first Net Zero cement.
