GTT, a global leader in membrane containment systems for the transport and storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG), has officially announced a pivotal development in its longstanding partnership with Jiangnan Shipyard. In a landmark move, GTT has received an order from Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. to design the tanks for two ‘state-of-the-art’ LNG Carriers, commissioned by Shandong Marine Energy (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.
The vessels each boast a capacity of 175,000 cubic meters, with their tanks to be equipped with the advanced Mark III Flex membrane containment system, underscoring the company’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and sustainability in LNG transportation.
Jiangnan Shipyard, a prominent force in the shipbuilding industry is situated in Shanghai, China, is considered to be a key player in the LNG carrier sector. Its portfolio includes the construction of numerous LNG carriers.
The carriers’ delivery is expected to take place between the first and second quarters of 2027, marking a significant milestone in the LNG transportation sector.
