The Global CCS Institute has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Asia Natural Gas and Energy Association (ANGEA) to help advance policy development, advocacy and education for carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
The MoU aims to cover three major areas including policy advocacy related to CCS, participation in education, information or advocacy events related to CCS and other initiatives.
According to ANGEA, government commitment to supporting CCS as part of its overall climate mitigation strategy is the key first step to encouraging investment.
Governments across the APAC region will need well-designed domestic financial incentives and regulatory frameworks to encourage direct investment in CCS.
