Getech has teamed up with energy business Sound Energy to explore for natural hydrogen and helium in Morocco.
The planned effort has been secured with a signed exploration collaboration agreement, which includes a joint regional screening study to identify areas of potential interest.
Together, the partners hope to negotiate exclusive rights for exploration and exploitation of hydrogen and helium resources in Morocco.
Richard Bennett, CEO of Getech, said that the company’s advanced geoscience solutions and AI capabilities will play a crucial role in driving cost-effective exploration in the region.
As part of the programme, Getech will utilise its geoscience platform, Globe™, and machine learning algorithms to identify prospective regions. This, paired with Sound Energy’s regional geoscience knowledge, hopes to support future exploration.

Morrocco is believed to be a highly prospective market for natural hydrogen exploration. The country’s extensive onshore basins, rich in subsurface resources, are thought to be prime candidates for natural hydrogen discoveries.
Geological hydrogen describes the gas when it is formed by natural processes within the Earth’s crust, where it can accumulate, as well as keep being produced, in underground reservoirs.
