On the 15th of July, Gazprom started up a helium liquefaction plant that produces up to 500 litres per hour located at Orenburg.
The plant is a first for Gazprom, which uses the newest generation of equipment from Linde Kryotechnik. The plant is capable of producing helium to 99.9999% purification.
A unique tank, which has 120m3 volume is used for storage, which gives the ability to keep the temperature at -269 degreesº – helium is saved due to being kept in its liquefied state. Special tanks will be used for the transportation of helium by road.
The plant will process up to 70% of helium product by OGZ with an expected actual capacity of four million litres per a year, which is expected to be used in Russia and for export.
