Netherlands-based Gasunie has converted a 60 kilometre (km) natural gas pipeline for the transport of regional biogas to the Gasunie network.
Having laid out its ambition to produce two billion cubic metres (2 bcm) of biogas by 2030, the Netherlands is producing an increasing amount of the green fuel.
The volume is causing more congestion in the regional pipelines through which the various producers transport their biogas.
By converting the natural gas pipeline form Emmen to Ommen into a transport pipeline for biogas, the company hopes to realise a central pipeline for transporting the gas by producers in the region.
