Gasum begins work on new biogas plant in Sweden

Nordic gas sector and energy market expert Gasum has begun construction work on its latest biogas plant project in the Swedish community of Götene.

Having received final construction permits at the end of January 2023, the plant will produce 120 gigawatt hours (Gwh) worth of liquefied biogas or LBG per year from early 2025 onwards.

A fully renewable and climate friendly fuel, biogas produced at the plant will use mainly manure as feedstock from the agriculture sector in the surrounding area.

The use of manure as feedstock mitigates harmful methane emissions generated by breakdown of manure when used as fertiliser and has been found to lower the greenhouse gas emissions when used, for example, in cars and trucks.
