Foster Wheeler AG’s subsidiary company, Global Engineering and Construction Group, wins contract with GDF SUEZ.
Within the agreement Global Engineering and Construction Group has guaranteed pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) in preparation of an onshore LNG plant and offshore gas gathering infrastructure.
Foster Wheeler is working in partnership with GDF SUEZ and its partner, Cameroon’s Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH). Umberto della Sala, President and Chief Operating Officer of Foster Wheeler, commented, $quot;We look forward to building a strong and long-lasting relationship with GDF SUEZ and its partner SNH in executing the Cameroon LNG Project. We have delivered a winning combination for the pre-FEED, bringing together our expertise and experience in LNG liquefaction, the subsea and pipelines expertise of our Upstream team, and our proven track record of delivering large, technically complex projects in challenging locations.$quot;
The project hopes to secure a national gas transportation network linking offshore Cameroon gas resources with the onshore site near Kribi, based on the southern coast of the country. The project will incorporate a single-train onshore LNG plant boasting an annual production capacity of up to 3.5m tonnes.
Additionally, the scheme involves an upstream gas gathering system and subsea pipeline tie-ins to offshore production facilities. Foster Wheeler is contracted to develop the preliminary design basis for the liquefaction facility, gas gathering and treatment facilities and LNG export facilities. The company will also prepare capital cost estimates and associated documentation; Foster Wheeler’s input is scheduled for completion in early 2011.
Financial details of the contract have not been disclosed, but Foster Wheeler will include the value in the second-quarter 2010 bookings.
