Foster Wheeler Ltd. has announced that its UK-headquartered subsidiary, Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, has been awarded a contract by Norway’s StatoilHydro ASA to undertake a feasibility study associated with carbon dioxide (CO2)/amine absorption, at the Asgard B offshore production facilities in the Norwegian Sea.
The value of the Foster Wheeler contract, undertaken as a part of its Global Engineering and Construction Group, for the project was not disclosed and will be included in the company’s first-quarter 2008 bookings.
Asgard B is a semi-submersible production vessel which processes and exports gas and produced condensate from the Smorbukk and Midgard reservoirs in the Norwegian Sea. The overall objective of the project is to obtain maximum absorption of CO2 at Asgard B, in order to reduce future downstream CO2 removal demand and increase the volume of natural gas liquids exports.
