The first ‘Oxygen Express’ train arrived in Delhi on Tuesday as India tries to avoid shortages of oxygen at hospitals amid a surge in coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.
Indian Railway is running Oxygen Express trains in response to the oxygen crisis in India and says approximately 450 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen has been delivered in six Oxygen Express trains so far.
The Oxygen Express reportedly carried 70 tonnes of oxygen into Delhi, which will be distributed around hospitals in India’s capital city. Hospitals around India are experiencing low supplies of medical oxygen due to the high volume of Covid-19 patients needing the life-saving gas.
