Specialty chemicals company Evonik is celebrating a major achievement as it reaches its 1,000th reference plant for biogas upgrading, located in Heek, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The 1,000th plant, known as the ‘PurePac’ project, is being constructed by Dutch plant builder Bright Renewables in collaboration with three local farmers.
This project will utilise organic matter, primarily manure, for biogas production. With the help of Evonik’s SEPURAN Green hollow-fibre membranes, the organic biomass will generate 1,600 Nm3/h (normal cubic metres per hour) of raw biogas.
