Membrane production specialist Evonik has started up a new production plant for gas separation membranes as part of its drive to decarbonise the energy sector towards a sustainable gas economy.
Located in Schörfling am Altersee, Austria, the facility will help meet the increasing demand for Evonik’s SEPURAN range of membrane technology in biogas, nitrogen, hydrogen and natural gas applications.
Having invested a ‘low double-digit’ million-euro amount in the new plant, Evonik last year announced plants to invest euro3bn by 2030 in products that offer superior sustainability benefits.
The company aims to increase sales of these ‘Next Generation Solutions’ from the current 37% to more than 50% by 2030.
