A new plant that will produce renewable ethylene from sustainable ethanol in the Netherlands has taken a major step in its development following the decision by project lead Syclus to choose Axens to provide its Atol technology for the plant.
Based in Chemelot Industrial Park, Geleen, the 100,000 tonnes per year plant will be the first of its kind in Europe.
Axens’ proprietary Atol technology will enable the project to obtain cost-effective ethylene yields to what the partners label a ‘best-in-class catalyst’, which allows for an optimised use of process energy, which minimises emissions.
