Energy companies Yara Clean Ammonia and Cepsa have joined forces to set up what they say will be the first clean hydrogen maritime corridor between the ports of Algeciras, Spain and Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Under terms of a strategic partnership, Yara will supply Cepsa with clean ammonia to serve industrial and maritime customers in Rotterdam and Central Europe to support decarbonisation.
In support the maritime corridor, Cepsa will build a new green ammonia plant at its energy park in San Roque, Cádiz, near the port of Algecira, with an annual production capacity of up to 750,000 tonnes.
