Amid a hydrogen-hectic day of news, Gasworld can announce that the European Hydrogen Association has appointed a new President.
The new incumbent, Ian Williamson, benefits from seven years experience at Air Products’ Hydrogen and Bio Energy Systems business. In addition, Williamson was a founding member of the EU Joint Technology Initiative.
The appointment marks the end of Lars Sjunnesson’ role which began in 2005. The European hydrogen Association represents all the key European companies, as well as 19 national hydrogen and fuel cell organisations from across the region.
Whilst in role, Williamson will oversee the EHA’s ongoing promotion of hydrogen as a significant energy carrier in a low carbon climate. By employing the unique membership structure, he shall ensure the Association continues to leverage its close-up insight into national and local developments. Williamson, remarked, “It’s crucial that the EU, national, and regional governments demonstrate a commitment – backed-up by financial and non-financial incentives – to support the hydrogen and fuel cell industry.”
He added, “Recent developments such as the EU Competitiveness Council’s conclusions on the EU Clean and Energy Efficient Vehicles Strategy, clearly show we’re making progress. I’m certain that, with the knowledge and expertise of EHA’s members, this momentum will continue to build.”
