While hopes remain high that the evolving hydrogen economy will eventually lead to a point at which hydrogen fuelled vehicles and aircraft will one day be common, there are those who believe it is more likely that hydrogen will be fuelling vehicles only when combined with CO2 to form e-fuels.
Brice Lalonde, Former Green Party candidate and former advisor on Sustainable Development to the United Nations Global Compact, and who now heads up a think-tank called ‘Équilibre des Énergies’, is one such critic.
In a recent interview Lalond said, “Hydrogen is touted as a universal fuel, but you can’t use it for everything. The main interest in hydrogen is going to be as a component to mix with carbon.”
