Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) has awarded $10m for carbon converting technologies through round three of its funding competition, Grand Challenge: Innovative Carbon Uses.
Through the competition both Mangrove Water Technologies and CarbonCure Technologies received $5m in order to help commercialisation of carbon conversion technologies in Alberta.
“The Alberta-led Grand Challenge supports bold ideas from around the world that will result in meaningful, measurable emissions reductions,” said Jason Nixon, Minister of Environment and Parks in Canada.
If successful, the two technologies have potential to deliver emissions reductions of almost 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year by 2030. All contributions from ERA are required to be matched with private dollars.
