Italian oil and gas company Eni has launched a project to transform the Republic of Congo into an exporter of natural gas.
The Congo LNG project will exploit the country’s huge gas resources of Marin XII. The gas is expected of fulfil the country’s power generation needs while also fuelling LNG exports, primarily to international markets, including Europe.
Experts anticipate the project will achieve an LNG production capacity of 3 million tonnes per year (4.5 billion cubic metres/year) from 2025.
