Linde reported a $2.2bn operating profit in the second quarter on the back of $8.3bn sales.
Sales were only up 1% year-on-year though, amid flat volume growth, but the overall result beat estimates.
Americas sales totalled $3.6bn (up 3% year-on-year), Asia-Pacific was down 2% to $1.66bn, and Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) was also down 3% to $2bn.
Linde Engineering sales totalled $544m, up 10%, and order intake for the quarter was $336m with third-party sale of equipment backlog totalling $3.2bn.
