Air Liquide, the industrial gases major, has said it is benefiting from a global recovery in the electronics business in the third quarter, with activity improving in the US, Taiwan, China, Japan, and South Korea in particular.
The upturn in activity has seen demand for the carrier gases used in electronics – nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, and oxygen – register “high single-digit growth” in Q3, said Air Liquide CEO François Jackow, talking on the Paris-headquartered company’s latest earnings call.
Jackow said the growth reflected the company’s strong existing portfolio in supplying carrier gases, plus new projects coming online.
“We have [also] seen … strong growth in the advanced materials and the E&I [electrical and instrumentation] business, with double-digit growth for those two segments,” he said.
