EFC Gases & Advanced Materials (EFC) has launched a new neon gas recycling system to offer long-term, stable neon pricing for end-users.
The Massachusetts-based company’s system has already been qualified by industrial equipment specialist Cymer for use with its excimer lasers. It also showcases EFC’s commitment to sustainable technology for the rare gases and semiconductor industries.
On the point of sustainability, Matt Adam, Executive Vice-President of EFC, said, “This system, now OEM-qualified, is a significant leap in excimer laser technology, improving operational efficiency and offering environmental benefits. It reflects our commitment to using chemistry and technology for positive change.”
While neon is universally associated with brightly coloured signage, neon’s largest downstream application is lasers. Accounting for up to 90% of neon gas laser demand, the semiconductor industry uses neon as a buffer and carrier gas within a mixture termed excimer gas.
