An attempt is to be made for a hydrogen powered vehicle to set a new distance record on just a single filling of hydrogen.
Engineers from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands have created a urban concept car fitted with two ultra-lightweight, high pressure (300 bar) Type 3 carbon compositive cylinders from AMS Composite Cylinders.
The vehicle, known as Eco-Runner XI, will attempt the record on the 5th-6th of July 2021 at the R&TC track in Helmond.
With the 9L cylinders holding a total capacity of around 450g of hydrogen when full, the Eco-Runner will try to challenge the record set by the Toyota Mirai, which covered 623 miles (1002.6km) during the Paris de l’hydrogène exhibition earlier in June.
