The European Biogas Association (EBA) has today released a new paper providing analysis on the potential of biomethane for fast decarbonisation of the transport sector.
EBA’s paper considered 11 comparative studies analysing transport emissions per type of fuel, which shows that biomethane can reach even carbon negative levels of CO2 reductions in transport.
Despite all current efforts from the EU, the transportation sector is the only sector which is not decarbonising but shows an increase in greenhouse gas emissions on a yearly basis since 2014, the paper explains.
Following the analysis, the EBA emphasis the need for further actions to reduce emissions in the transport sector, highlighting the role that biomethane can play in these efforts.
