Aberdeen-based Dominion Gas is to become the main supplier of industrial gas for the Nord Stream Project, in a deal worth upwards of €2m.
The Nord Stream gas pipeline links Russia and the European Union via the Baltic Sea and is expected to transport up to 55 billion cubic metres of gas each year – enough to supply more than 26 million households.
Dominion was awarded the work by the Italian oilfield services company Saipem. Saipem secured the contract for all pipelay activities – worth more than €1bn – in June 2008.
The deal involves Dominion supplying all welding gases and equipment for construction of the pipeline.
