Diversified CPC opens NGL processing plant in Texas to meet demands

Propellant, refrigerant, and specialty gas products manufacturer Diversified CPC has opened a new NGL processing plant in Beaumont, Texas, to better serve customers in the Gulf Coast region.

The plant is Diversified CPC’s second major NGL refrigerants and high-purity hydrocarbons production and distribution facility. Its other plant is in Channahon, Illinois.

Construction on the plant began in 2020 and work was carried out in phases. Now complete, the site features technology and resources to strengthen the company’s ability to produce, test, certify, and distribute high-purity products.

The plant has a two-tower high-purity NGL fractionation system, a process heater, molecular sieve processing towers, process gas refrigeration systems, and mercury removal units.

It is Diversified CPC’s fourth fractionation system. It features a large-scale facility fire protection system that is designed to supply 11,000 gallons per minute (gpm) from a six-million-gallon onsite reservoir.

Diversified CPC developed the site in response to an increased demand for high-purity hydrocarbon gases and blends, with its CEO noting the powerful role purity plays in several applications.

Bill Frauenheim, Vice-President of Operations for Diversified CPC, added, “The Beaumont site was chosen for its proximity to our Gulf Coast customer base, access to NGL pipelines, daily rail switching by Iron Horse Terminals (IHT) that operates one of the largest rail terminals in the Gulf Coast region, and ample rail storage opportunities both onsite and at IHT.”

The site also has a rail distribution terminal with access to two Class-One railroads, extensive bulk storage, and a sophisticated safety system.
