The 60 Minutes With session on the opening day of the MENA Industrial Gases Conference 2024 in Abu Dhabi provided plenty of strategic food for thought.
Professor Richard Boocock, Director and Principal Consultant at Boocock Advisory, who advises clients on the energy transition drawing on 40 years’ industry experience, and Phil Brickell, Executive Director at the International Oxygen Manufacturers Association, covered a wide range of topics, moderated by gasworld Content Director Rob Cockerill.
Uppermost in everyone’s minds is the recent US election and how the second Donald Trump administration will materialise from January, and its impact on the region.
“A lot of people are ‘looking forward’ to the new administration – on the one hand, there’s excitement, on the other trepidation,” said Boocock. “The geopolitical implications all come down from how much of the words are converted into action. We see different analysis in the informed business press about what China sanctions could do to APAC, in terms of companies shifting their production capacity.”
