A Slovenian company has reduced its use of chemicals in paper production by around 20%, thanks to CO2 from Messer.
After a successful trial period with Messer, Kolicevo Karton, part of the Mayr-Melnhoff group – Europe’s largest producer of recycled cardboard, has requested the company provide it with CO2 on a more permanent basis.
Kolicevo Karton, which produces 650 tons of cardboard a day, hired Messer in Slovenia to provide it with CO2 with a view to optimising its production processes.
The use of CO2 in the six-month trial operation resulted in a marked reduction in environmentally damaging chemicals, and led to an improvement in the quality of paper produced.
